Love, Joy, Peace...
Reverend DaVontae' Edwards
Rev. DaVontaé Edwards serves as the Senior Pastor of Dunbar First Baptist Church, where he is committed to faithfully preaching the Word of God, shepherding the congregation with compassion, and equipping believers to live out their faith in everyday life. His ministry emphasizes discipleship, prayer, community engagement, and fostering a Christ-centered culture that welcomes all people to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Alongside his pastoral responsibilities, Rev. Edwards serves as a Chaplain at CAMC Women & Children’s Hospital, offering spiritual care and guidance to patients, families, and staff in moments of crisis. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Marshall University and a Master of Divinity from Eastern Theological Seminary. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with plans to obtain his Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential, and is working toward becoming a Board Certified Chaplain. By integrating pastoral wisdom with evidence-based counseling approaches, he seeks to provide holistic care for the spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being of those he serves. Rev. Edwards is blessed to share life and ministry with his wife, Mandy, and their three beautiful children—Iris, Milo, and Ezra. He believes the church is called to be a beacon of hope—rooted in Scripture, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and actively demonstrating the love of Christ to the community and the world.
