OUR PRAYER.......
Spirit of the Living God, we pause in Your presence—not just to feel something, but to be changed. Not just to be inspired, but to be indwelt. We admit how often we try to live this life in our own strength, relying on routine instead of relationship, and on control instead of surrender. But today, we open ourselves again. As a church, we confess, we need You. Breathe on us. Move in us. Awaken us. Teach us what it means to walk by Your Spirit—not ahead of You, not behind You, but with You.
Where we have grown dry, send rain. Where we have become stuck, stir the wind. Where we have lost our passion, ignite the flame again. We don’t want to merely attend church—we want to be the Church, alive and led by Your Spirit. Produce in us Your fruit. May love heal what hatred has broken. May joy return where sorrow has lingered. May peace reign where anxiety once ruled. Grow patience in our frustration, kindness in our reactions, goodness in our actions, faithfulness in our commitment, gentleness in our speech, and self-control in our battles.
Holy Spirit, guide this congregation—not just on Sundays, but in the quiet and ordinary moments: in the kitchen, the classroom, the hospital room, the workplace, the neighborhood. Help us hear Your whisper above the noise. Help us follow Your lead when it feels unfamiliar. Help us trust Your timing when we want to rush ahead. Let Dunbar First Baptist Church not just be known for its past, but for a present that is alive in the Spirit and a future that is shaped by Your power. We yield. We listen. We follow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
